Me realizing that no matter what you do you can't save your daughter and wife

(1 edit) (+1)

Please add a good ending where either koko or reiko both alive 😭😭

(+3)

Hey Eroraen!

It’s been two years since I played Koko, and today I played Reiko. Koko was a game that welled up emotions I never thought I was capable of feeling. The story, music, ambience, art, and most of all the characters were simply perfect. And while Reiko’s ending resonated a little less with me, I was not disappointed at all with the game. In fact, it made me remember the things I loved about Koko

Your style of game design is something that touches the depths of my soul. Perhaps it is overdramatic of me to say such things but to me it  is incredibly real.  If I had to describe the feeling, it would be like stumbling upon an object that feels nostalgic but you know for sure you’ve never seen it before. In a more concrete sense, I guess it’s a bittersweet feeling that I find solace and tranquility in.

Sometimes I feel that the things I feel-passion, love, anger-are somewhat fake. Not in a way that I don’t feel emotions but in a way that they dissipate in such a short span of time that it feels wrong. However, the emotions I felt from Koko have stuck to me over the years and have given me confidence that I’m not some unfeeling robot.

I’m sorry for rambling, I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t stop making games. You probably didn’t plan on stopping but please please continue your work. There is something about your games that brings forth true feelings and emotions. This aching I feel in my chest is proof of that.

Thank you, Eroraen

P.S I will literally cry tears of joy if you make a happy family ending for Reiko Please consider it!!!!

(+4)

It's already been two years since I started making games, eh? Time has flown by!

I know that Reiko's ending is not to everyone's liking. And in fact this has made me wonder several times if I should do some kind of remake of Koko's whole story.  I really don't know if one day I'll decide to remake my first games applying everything I've been learning. But that possibility is never zero.

At the moment I'm afraid my priority is to slowly get back into the habit of drawing and writing, as for personal reasons I've been unable to do anything for several months now.
I often had the feeling that my adventure in creating visual novels had come to an end. But, I hope that I can continue to create characters and stories that will stay in the memories of more people!

Thank you very much for your words. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. 🤍
Comments like yours are some of the best rewards I've got for my games.

PS: That feeling of melancholy has been said to me several times, and as I always reply, it's not intentional. But if I had to give a reason for it, it's because I always try to put a bit of my soul into what I do. So it's something completely unintentional or unconscious (although I obviously like it)!

I am yet to experience Reiko,
but I can say you're not being overly dramatic about Koko.

(+1)

i love this game its  story is good but its not that good as the 1st game, but what makes up for it is the codes like the reconnection with miroku and everything (in this game she seems 10x nicer than koko) but i wish to see a code where we get the 2 of them reconnecting and getting along well because the ending is good but i wish we could have a good ending (love the reiko end because i can feel the distress of seiichi through the screen and all) sorry for the late post but hey! its better late than ever aint it? cya yall peace and i love ur games Eroraen!!

(+2)

so miroku was the best girl all the time?

(+2)

It seems.. You have fared better than myself, this game gave me the rod, all 65 stiff cold, metallic inches, and I could do nothing about it....

(+2)

Not reading the comments, it's time to Rizz this creature up, it's show time for senpai 😘😔

(+1)

bro :(

So after choosing my endnings canonically, my wife is dead, still, and I have zero interest in changing what I ultimately chose. Daughter is still completely running about,  unknown what exactly happened. I am definately a bad ending magnet, I don't watch gameplays, tutorials, nothing.

Yet besides this, I feel like By accepting the endings as they are, I kind of show alot of respect for not just developers but others who haven't played, because I don't go around exposing player path and the like to make room for fakes.

Similar to how I played Void of desire, my ending, didn't have anything bad at all, I just invited her to live with me, secluded essentially... and the ending was chill. The game wasn't even a horror game from my perspective.

(+2)

Before I say my peace I just want to say that I absolutely love the Koko series, especially the first game and it's story. The true good ending to it was absolutely perfect. That being said Reiko is a fantastic game visually, and the graphic upgrade from the first is phenomenal as well. The thing that I can honestly say that I don't like is the way the story ends. I personally think that there should be a true good end like there was in the first game. Don't get me wrong I love that the horror elements are even more previlant in this game, but it really bums me out that there wasn't that true good ending. All in all, that's just my opinion though haha love your games.  I guess I'll just have to hope for a true good end being added one day 🤣

While the ending in the first game appears to be true good, it only appears this way without the future context. This game shows us how, despite the seemingly happy ending presented in the first, the relationship with Koko ultimately doesnt stay so happy. The point of this game is almost to show this, the kind of monster people that Koko and Reiko are means they essentially unable to have a long steady continuous relationship (its been a long time since i played so forgive me if i get this a bit wrong). If this game had a true good ending, it would only be a false promise like the one of the previous game. Maybe the girl in Koko was right to warn us about her.

Maybe i should just leave this 8 month old comment alone, but i wanted to comment on this while i was reminiscing on this game

!! Spoilers alert ¡¡

(+1)

I know it's late to leave a review 1 year after launch, but here goes

((Spoilers ahead))

What did I think of this sequence? Well, in my opinion, not as good as the first game. Great art, I liked how the story was told, but my issue was with the characters. So, I think this ending just throws away any Koko development that was pre-established in the first game.

Yes, of course, you have access to an excerpt from Koko's diary in the first game and you see that she was a little crazy, but apparently she changes as a person. And she changed even more over the years. And in my point of view, it made no sense for her to do what she did in the end.

It was already apparently established in the first game that she would let you go or stay with her, so her suddenly acting like this now at the end of this sequence made absolutely no sense, and basically breaks everything that was already established in the character.

And with all that said, it doesn't make sense that after all that she imprision you after killing her own daughter.

As for Reiko's ending, it made a little sense, as she was a child going through a kind of "puberty" of her kind. She was uncertain and afraid, but with the right choices this should be avoided.

But still, the ending remains open, with a little or no closure.

Imo, it was not a good sequel. I understand the idea that Seiichi was just not in control of the situation, but it didn't work imo. Considering how good the first game was, I was disappointed with this sequel.

Again, it's all an opinion. I'm looking at everything from a critical point of view, it's not like it's just a "noooo i don't like bad endings!! Koko and Reiko should have a good ending!!!!" - I'm pointing out things that I saw as a problem in this sequel, and I hope that maybe one day there will be an update (even after 1 year) with a good ending that makes sense, because it is possible.

(+3)

I shouldn't have play this game ;-; . I should have probably stay with the first one . Now , I'm really sad that it had to end in such horrific state. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! THE STORY IS MESSED UP . THIS REMINDED ME WHEN I USED TO WATCH "YOU LIE IN APRIL "!

(+3)

Pascal es un grande. best girl

(+4)
The first one gave me hope, now there's only sadness left. Games without a happy ending end me. But it perfectly conveyed the touch of reality it was meant to convey. But now I'm scared to play the other games...
(+7)

Miroku was such an angel, shame we cannot interact with her more in the canon ending or see more about her powers.

(+2)

Yeah

(+4)

Good Game As All Of Your Games But both Ending wasnt that good 9/10

(1 edit) (+4)

Great game. It's a good sequel to Koko and I'm loving the yandere, monster girl vibe this series is going with. I recommend trying this game if you enjoyed Koko or like yanderes.

*SPOILERS*
The ending has a tragic twist. You're in the shoes of both a father and husband, but sadly you're not able to protect your family no matter what you do, this would crush any man's spirit and if there's a sequel I think Seiichi will likely be depressed, still grieving his loss.

The great thing about the ending is despite the tragedy, I was left with a sense of mystery and I don't really know what happened or why things played out as they did. Could those events have been avoided? Perhaps by sending Reiko to Pascal's place to spend the night then send her off to a boarding school for half humans in the morning? Was Koko right to warn us of Reiko because the children of her species are a threat to their parents and only she knew that? Or is it that Reiko learned something she shouldn't have and it turns out Koko is so possessive of Seiichi that she'll eliminate anyone just to keep him to herself even if that means killing her own child? Perhaps both scenarios are true? Sadly you cannot sacrifice yourself to save both of them to defy their question.

I truly do not know. This is an ending that left me with more questions than answers the only thing I know for certain is that Koko tried to tell Seiichi that she wasn't human but he refused to listen when he really should have listened, to try to understand her and the situation better. Had he done that it may of been possible to save his family and keep it in one piece.

I would like to see a third installment of Koko so that I may learn the answers to some of these questions and to see where the story goes. If it turns out that Koko really is so possessive of Seiichi that she will eliminate anyone to have him then I wonder what his options will be in the sequel or if he will learn to accept his wife for what she is?

All I know is that I hope this won't be the last we hear of Koko.
I also want to thank the developer for taking the time to make an English version to your games, I enjoy them and I wish you success!

(+4)

Thank you very much for your review!
I loved it.

I know the ending isn't to many people's liking, but I'm glad you liked it overall!

And about a possible sequel, I think maybe it would be much more set to horror - Maybe Koko stalking Seiichi? Or could it be something more bizarre?
(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

*SPOILERS*

Try some of these codes*

- Rebeca

- Daniel

- 1125

- Miroku

(+1)

Where should i put this code ?

(+1)

You can enter the codes in the main menu. In the bottom right corner, there is the menu item "Codes".

(+3)

Thanks for the info, i didn't notice it at first because of my thumb covering the bottom right corner of my phone. Anyway this is a good game little bit surprised with both ending (because neither of them seems to be good), overall keep up the good work always amazed with the story

(+1)

I’m dying to know, what secret route unlocks if you input Miroku?

(+4)

A little "What if" where Seiichi and Miroku meet again.

(1 edit) (+4)

Why? Why both endings must be that tragic? I spent so much time to find a way how to save them both and live like a happy family

(1 edit) (+4)

Okay so, i created an account to post this comment (Also to follow the dev and start interacting more with Itch.io).
Spoilers (Maybe, i am writing this in the moment)

This is probably far enough away.

Koko was an intersting game, it fullfield this nieche of monster-girl + yandere + self-insert low-effort romance. So it was a feel-good experience that started with a low-horror ambience that eventually turns itself into romance.

I was expecting Reiko to be the same, but the structure ended up being the exact opposite, starting with this lovelly couple worried with their child's buberty and ending on... that...

I don't want to embelish this review, the ending was a mixed bag, my main problem wasn't the fact that it's sad regardles, but how out of Seiichi's control it was, even though he does stuff (Such as taking Koko to a date and Conecting with his daughter), it feels like his countributions are just "Existing".

I feel like there was potential to expand a little bit, maybe Koko telling you to stop interacting with Reiko's accusations, and actually being able to see the evidence that Reiko wants to show you, having the option to do what Koko told you and reject said evidence or take it into consideration and talk / interrogate Koko about it. If you choose to reject it, Reiko's ending happens because Seiichi didn't belive in her (And you directly demonstrated that to her), like she says in her ending. If you choose to confront Koko, her ending happens because you didn't listen to her (And demonstrated this to her directly). Basically: i want Seiichi to have a bigger influence in his life.

I don't want to make it sound like i didn't like the story, it was good enough to make me feel like writing a review for once.

The art was pretty decent, it is a step up from Koko, which already had good art, Koko's design  threw me off at the start (Manly thanks to her straighter chins making her already long head seem even longer) but i got used to it.

The translation is janky at times, but nothing i couldn't understand, i think i will replay it in spanish at some point to see if i missed something

I was innitially disapointed that there wasn't a happy ending in the extras, even if it wasn't cannon, but then i realized i was worng and there is a good ending, and all i had to do was use Best Girl's name in the extras menu. For real, i am really happy to see some news on Miroku, also really happy to see that both her ending and her Note's entry imply there is more to her, do i smell a follow up game on her?

Really pissed Pascal didn't get a little story in the extra, my boy was done dirty.

(+1)

Thanks for your review!

To be honest, my intention from the beginning with Seiichi was that he simply could never do anything. He's always been at the mercy of the rest (Koko, Miroku, etc); seeing himself involved in situations that are beyond him and can only meet an inhuman fate. Like the frustration of feeling that he's not really in control of anything since he met Koko.

But I'm glad that overall, you had a nice time!
(。^▽^)

(I'm also a fan of Pascal).

(1 edit) (+2)

Thanks for the reply! But i think i need to make myself more clear:

I am not saying that Seiichi should have control over the situation, what i am saying is that the girls's actions should revolve aroud his actions.

This is something that Koko (The game) did pretty well. In that game, the choices of endings are based on who Seiichi trusts, but the reason why said ending happened is because of the actions he took based on said trust.

Koko's ending happens because BY TRUSTING KOKO, he REJECTSMiroku's help and STAYS to talk to Koko, the choice made is whom to trust, but it's not the ACT OF TRUSTING in on itself that changes the ending.

Miroku's ending happenes because, by trusting Miroku, Seiichi dreams of her and ends up saying her name, what causes Koko to kill Miroku is the act of saying Miroku's name in your sleep, that was CAUSED BY YOUR TRUST IN HER, but it wasn't the ACT OF TRUSTING in on itself.

What i think is that Reiko (The game) should probably have followed the same principle. Seiichi's trust on either his wife or daughter should change something that he does, and that something should be what triggers the respective girl's reaction.

Reko wants Seiichi to see the evidence that Koko is bad, if you were to trust Reiko, you go in the middle of the night to her room and see said evidence, in this, Koko notices what you did and preemptively kills Reiko, BECAUSE Seiichi didn't droped tha subject, her reaction would be based on what Seiichi DID.

If you were to trust Koko, Seiichi wouldn't go see the evidence, thanks to that, Reiko realizes that Seiichi doesn't believe on her and preemptively kills Koko to "Protect father", again, her actions would be Based on what Seiichi DID.

The feeling of frustration would probably be even bigger because, DESPITE of what he does, he gets a bad ending. He is capable of Doing things, but those things can never lead him to a good ending.

Basically: Unless the girls can feel who you trust more and are reacting to THAT (Which might be a possibility seeing as theyre are demi-humans),  Seiichi's choice of whom to choose should cause him to DO something, and the girls react to THAT, Seiichi would be never in control, but the girls would take the decisions thay take based on the actions the preson they are fighting for does.

P.S. I am not trying to change anything, just giving some critiscism for the future, i actually really liked the games, to the point that i am genuinely considering making a video reviewing Eroraen's full game collection.

jesus christ why did it have to be this way oh my god.

Extreme spoilers btw

tactical space to avoid spoilers

As soon as Koko asked the first question i felt like that was a sort of "Sophie's choice" question, and the game really did not skip a beat going directly to the punch with the ending. The integration of the troubling first question into the delightful and sedating romantic antics was good, and i only really considered the possibility of it being a major sort of Chehkov's gun when Reiko asked me the similar question

Around the time of the date i was really considering the possibility that Reiko would run away, and something along the lines of a cliched wild Goose chase would manifest (with a tragic ending.), and i must say that i am happy that was not how it played out.

The nightmare, prior to its reveal, gave me an extremely similar impression to that of the moment in a danganronpa game where you, the player, already know something is dreadfully wrong, and that a character is most likely dead, but you must press on for the sake of the protagonist's enlightenment to this fact.

While i'm sure a part of all of us wished and do wish for a secret "they get therapy" ending, i understand the reasoning between the mutually terrible parallel endings.

If i were to put something like that in though, it would be a secret third ending that occurs when you wait too long on the screen where you select who to trust, or perhaps for a reveal of some dramatic lore as the camera creeps up the unidentified person's arm.  (maybe it would be the super terrible "everyone dies, are you happy you found this secret ending?" ending).

In regards to the graphics, they, along with the animations, were of stellar quality.

Life often is just sudden like that in its tragedies, and i feel like this is a good representation of that.

good game (sorry if this review is incoherent rambling im writing this an hour after playing it at 3am)

(+1)

(Spoilers maybe)

Wow, I was really surprised by the complexity and depth of your review, thank you so much!

As I think I mentioned in other comments, I'm aware that many people were expecting a happy ending, but felt it would have been very "forced". So I just kept writing as I thought it should happen in reality. Obviously, with some friendlier scenes but without forgetting that perhaps, it was just the calm before a storm that he couldn't avoid.

I'm really glad you liked it overall, and I loved your idea about an alternative ending after the time is up on the decisions!

I hope to keep improving in the future, thanks to feedback like yours.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I do look forward to seeing your future work!

¡Gracias!

(+3)

(Spoiler)I'm not gonna lie after playing KoKo fully the curveball at the end when you chose to side with Koko completely shocked me. I Didn't expect anything like that at all. Then going back and seeing when you sided with reiko also shocked me. You are amazing at creating twist , Great stories!

(+2)

Thank you very much! I know some people didn't like both endings and the direction of the story. But I thought it was the best.

I appreciate your thoughts! ^_^

(+3)

I enjoyed the build up but the ending left me thinking "that's it?". If you were absolutely bent on having a sad ending I would of at least added a scene where you go to check on Reiko and you see the two struggling against one another. Have Seiichi die during the struggle if you really wanna give the middle finger to the player. The aftermath could be conveyed  through a news report or something.

Up until the ending it was entertaining but the ending itself just felt so sudden.

(+1)

(Spoilers)

This might be a random question, but when Rebeca's using your name, what exactly is it getting it from? Is it getting it from your Windows username or is it something else?

[SPOILERS]

If I am not wrong, she gets the name from the OS.
Or so I think.

(+1)

What does OS stand for?

By OS, I meant the Operating System.

(+2)

Until then, I'll remain in the nothingness and the everything.

And you, keep striving to reach that which makes you infinite. With love: ~ Rebeca :)

(+3)

This visual novel is great so far. I'll have to finish it later but I enjoyed the atmosphere and pascal is my favorite so far.

(+1)

Any H content in this game..?

(+2)

nope

(+1)

darn it

(+3)

Loved it! Great artwork and music. Sadly enough, i feel that Seiichi lacks personality, he is pretty dull to me. Sometimes he makes a nice point, but most of the time i tend to question his actions. Maybe i missed the point? By no means i want to lecture, but imo it would better to sacrifice some time to make better writing (in terms of actions, events, choices, etc). Nevertheless, your games are gems, that is for sure. Waiting for updates on your new project, take your time.

(+2)

The bad thing about the protagonist/player, in my view, is to find a balance between ''avatar'' and character.

Just enough so that you can feel a bit identified, I guess.
But, my intention with the next story is for the protagonist to have a stronger personality and not be so ambiguous. It might be something more narrative and linear. I also want to make a change of direction in terms of art, etc.

I will try to give myself some more time.

Thank you very much for your feedback! I really appreciate it.
(。^▽^)

(+3)

I finished both reiko and koko story.

Man,why just why u have to make this so sad. It's really hard to chose.

Is there any chance, plz make a story we all will be happy🥺.

(Now,This is my one of best visual novel game)

(+2)

Haha, sorry about that!

As I was writing, I thought it was the best way to give an end to the story of both of them. Who knows what the future holds for them, though.

Thank you so much for your words!

(I hope the next vn will be more pleasant.)

(+1)

Man, u r the creator,so u can do what u think best for the story. And i love it.

But,its just that in here,i feel completely powerless. No mater what  the choice i make😔i will lose one my love one.In koko,u atleast give us the option, but here😔.

(man,i just finished ur another game  void of desire. It was also good and i can see u made a connection there with koko.  I couldn't play ur 4th game because it didn't had the apk version😢.)

(+1)

Wow, that was depressing. At least we have best bud Pascal to help us with the years of therapy ahead for Seiichi. I feel sad that there is not a happy ending, but we have a story of Demi-Humans, for all I know Koko was cast into the woods because it was either that or end up in the same situation as what happened to Seiichi.

To be honest it feels like anything can come out of left field after seeing what happens in ‘Void of Desire’ it feels like the Demi-Humans have more a perception of longing than of love.

Still amazing animations really made the characters feel alive, and I really love playing through your games, the romance always feels sweet, even if the endings may be traumatic.

(+1)

Again, thanks for your videos!

I don't consume a lot of YouTube, but I like the way you make videos. You have a promising channel.

And I'm glad you didn't have too many problems with the animations. It was something I wanted to try on this occasion. Besides the fact that you enjoyed the whole story, it makes me happy. (Oh, and congratulations on figuring out the codes, too! Perhaps we will see Koko or some other creature from the same forest again?)

Thank you for everything, and I wish you the best of luck. ~

(+1)

is this end for koko or are u planing to make koko 3 or smt?

For now, this is the end of the story. Although I never rule out any possibility in the future.

(+4)

its still makes me sad that there was no good ending :(

(+1)

what does codes do? and can someone tell me the codes pls

(+3)

The codes unlock dialogues from a previous visual novel and an alternative secret route.

In the downloadable extras, there is an image with all the codes.

But in case you just want to know what they are without further ado:

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

  1. Rebeca ~ (The protagonist of DR).
  2. Daniel ~ (The second protagonist of DR).
  3. 1125 ~ (Answer to the riddle).
  4. Miroku ~ (Secondary character in the first story).
(+2)

ty so much

tysm Eroraen i know im pretty late to this by 1 year but i absolutely love your games! they make feel the emotions through the screen i love it keep going and ty for the codes

(+3)

sad that there is no happy ending otherwise verry good

I hope that there will be a 3rd instalment  where the both endings were a nightmare and koko and reiko ended up apologizing to each other

(+1)

Holy, i should try this game

(2 edits) (+2)

i just finished both koko + reiko im rendering the video right now i gotta say its my second attempt at the visual novel genre and it was interesting how the story evolved i also liked the litttle nods towards your older game lune to rack it up it was a fun experience i dont know  if this is the end of the story or if we gonna see more either way it would interest me which ending is canon in reiko since the first game koko was quite obvious.
(+1)

I like to add some detail or reference to my other works, as always. And for me, the final canon is where *MAYBE SPOILERS* you trust Reiko.

Thanks for giving my visual novels a chance!

I hope you had a great time.
^_^

(+1)

About lune is there any chance we will get an english adaptation i would love to try it

I might try to do it in the future, but for now I can't promise anything.

(4 edits) (+1)

Damn you are making these games so fast its incredible, I really appreciate the amount of effort you put in making games, for anyone that didn't, you should really try the codes for the extras in the down right of the game menu they give you short continuations of the Rebeca and Miroku stories, the animations and the close up shots were really good tho I liked the design of the original koko too, the black screen bug is annoying but bearable. Maybe a sequel for dear Rebeca too. xd

I am not going to lie the fact that there is no good ending is just bad I feel like no one wanted the sequel to end that way, a life is still good kinda sequel, a sequel with an obvious bad choices for a bad ending, one with both bad and good endings or one with any good ending would have been way better, instead there are 2 endings that are both bad, unsatisfying and where the mc loses everything, you could have made a situation where one of them dying was inevitable and have the mc choose between them and it wouldn't feel so bad, sad to see the story end this way. :(

Hope you continue making games tho :D

Thanks for the feedback and the review!

I always try to improve a bit more, and try new things. In this case, I tried animating the scenes and the characters, although due to the limitations of the software I used, it seems that it doesn't work too well for everyone. So I guess I'll have to keep on researching about it or leave the animations aside.

SPOILERS

Obviously, I thought about adding a good and peaceful ending, but I thought that sometimes, we just try to avoid a destiny that sooner or later would come. That's why on this occasion, there was no running away.

But is it really a bad ending? Or for Koko it was just something normal and necessary? Is it her final end? Or maybe Rebeca could do something?

(Just kidding).

Thank you very much for your comment, it cheered me up a lot!
